Drowning in work, art and life.

Journal Entry: Sat Jan 18, 2014, 11:18 PM

Well my deviantwatch items are sitting at a whopping 4,701 right now, and I feel kind of guilty but to be fair I've had a lot going on.

I've been sick for 2 weeks straight, work is killing me, I recently decided to start promoting art I do/like on tumblr so that feels like another job and I've just been in an unmotivated rut.

The art project I'm working on is themed around JUXTAPOSITION: Healthy & Unhealthy Foods, where I'd like to showcase sketches, drawing, illustrations and paintings of healthier alternatives to the every food we eat. I attempted to start it the other day but I just felt lost. It's like when you have so many ideas in your head and you don't know how to get it down on paper.

So I started sketching a random banana. Which made me realize my dislike or lack of skill in drawig still life. Which made me doubt my fundamental and foundational observational drawing skills. Which led me to open up another sketchbook and start drawing figures and anatomy.

So I'm kind of winding it back to basics, I think I need the practice. The thing is I'm not the type to focus on details, or be very accurate or succint with what I draw. I lean on the expressive, abstract, rough side. So it makes me wonder if I should either a) try to refine my drawing to the norm, or b) try to achieve things like successful anatomy, figure drawing and still life in my own expressionist style.

Thoughts?

I managed to do a pretty decent skeleton, that made me happy. So I guess I'm going to go through the series of basic things every artist should be capable of drawing till I'm satisfied with myself; and I guess queue up enough posts on tumblr for a few days.

Maybe if I get some free time at work or if I'm not too tired at home I'll start sifting through my watch items.

It's a shitty day.
